My name is Ashley Singerman, and I’m a private practice therapist who works with people new to therapy, adults with childhood trauma, mothers, and adolescents. If you come from a background where you experienced neglect, trauma, or abuse, I hold the space where you feel supported and handheld in your experience while we move at your own pace.
It might be hard for you to take the first step because you aren’t sure or are afraid to make a choice. I love ushering people into the work because I know it can be anxiety provoking. In my approach, I want you to have the tools to make your own choices, and to feel safe in the process.
Childhood trauma and neglect as an adult can look like depression, anxiety, difficulties in relationships, acting out, compulsive behaviors, fear of new places, or lacking a sense of safety. Moms may be struggling in their new role because of their own history of being unmothered, neglected, or abused. Adolescents may be struggling with depression, feeling alone, not understanding why they don’t fit in, or troubling behavior.
As a mother, a wife, and a woman, I’ve had my own experiences that led me to this work. Through my own therapy I found healing that I truly believe everyone deserves. I’ve worked in residential treatment, intensive outpatient, on the streets of skid row, and volunteered with sexual assault survivors and in early-intervention. I use varying approaches in the therapy process depending on your goals. Humans aren’t “one size fits all,” and therapy shouldn’t be either. I look forward to supporting you on your journey.
